1

PSA A & B(Power Supply Indicators A&B):

To ensure safe operation, the SW8-USB provides redundant primary and backup power supplies, with corresponding LED power indicators on the front panel.

2

MIC/LINE:

A recessed switch sets whether the front panel XLR outputs are at microphone level or line level. When set to microphone level, the outputs are transformer-isolated to reduce ground loop noise. A red LED illuminates when set to line level operation.

3

AUTO:

A recessed switch sets whether the SW8-USB switching is manually controlled by the user or set to Auto Switch mode. If a fault is detected on side A, the SW8-USB will automatically select input B. Press to enter Auto Switch mode; the LED below will illuminate.

4

PLAYBACK ACTIVITY:

Dual green LEDs illuminate to indicate that the SW8-USB is receiving MTC or audio via S/PDIF – depending on the "Auto Switch Input" setting on the rear panel. Please note that these LEDs do not illuminate to indicate audio playback.

5

MUTE:

A latching switch with a red LED indicator mutes the analog outputs of the SW8-USB. This will mute the front panel XLR outputs, but the signal will still pass through the DB25 and TRS outputs on the rear panel to allow for local signal monitoring.

6

STANDBY:

A latching switch with a flashing red LED indicator is used to indicate that the SW8-USB maintains Input A unchanged when in Auto Switch mode, regardless of whether MTC or audio is received via S/PDIF. This function can also be remotely activated using the optional JR-2 footswitch (by pressing the MUTE switch on the JR-2).

7

INPUT SELECT:

A latching switch allows you to select the active USB input. Green LED for USB Card A, amber LED for USB Card B. This switch is disabled when the SW8-USB is in Auto Switch mode or when an optional JR-2 footswitch is connected.

8

RESET:

Use this momentary switch after a fault is detected to make the SW8-USB switch back to Input A. Before pressing this switch, be sure to check that the "PLAYBACK ACTIVITY A" LED is illuminated (indicating that valid MTC or audio is being received via S/PDIF). (For use in Auto Switch mode only).

9

ALARM:

When a fault is detected on the main playback computer (A), a flashing red LED illuminates, indicating that the SW8-USB is now playing from the backup computer (B).

10

XLR OUTPUTS:

Analog audio outputs from the main or backup computer are assigned based on the input selection. These outputs deliver either microphone-level or line-level signals according to the setting of the MIC/LINE switch.

11

GROUND LIFT:

Disconnects Pin 1 on the XLR outputs to help eliminate ground loop hum.

12

Power A and B input:

Equipped with secure 4-pin power connectors (included as standard). The SW8-USB’s PSU is a switching power supply, designed for convenient international use.

13

 M I D I Input  / Output :

Allows MIDI signals to be transmitted between computers via the active USB connection. When Sync Lock is disengaged, signals sent to MIDI IN are routed to both the main and backup computers, enabling an external MIDI controller to trigger synchronized track playback on both systems simultaneously.

14

SYNC LOCK :

When engaged, this switch transmits MIDI data from the main computer to the backup computer for synchronized playback. Disengaging the switch allows an external MIDI controller or footswitch connected to the START/STOP input to trigger track playback on both computers simultaneously.

15

USB A & B:

Type-B USB connectors for direct connection to your primary and backup computers. Each SW8-USB supports up to 8 channels of analog audio playback output. Compatible with Apple Mac OS systems, featuring 192kHz/24-bit digital converters.

16

AUTO-SWITCH INPUT:

Selects whether SPDIF or MTC is prioritized as the auto-switch input for the SW8-USB. When switching to Input B, prioritize SPDIF to reduce latency.

17

START/STOP:

A 1/4-inch TRS connector allows remote transmission of stop/start MMC signals to the computers for playback control and synchronization. Compatible with standard contact-closure footswitches (e.g., JR1-M remote footswitch).

18

BD25 PINS OUTPUT :

The DB25 connector outputs channels 1-8 at line level. These outputs remain active regardless of the front or rear panel MUTE switch position. All signals follow the main or backup computer selection, mirroring the XLR main outputs.

19

 TRS OUTPUT:

Balanced outputs connected in parallel with the DB25 outputs. These operate at line level and remain active regardless of the front panel MUTE switch setting.

20

JR-2 FOOTSWITCH:

XLR and 1/4-inch TRS connectors allow optional JR-2 remote footswitches to control SW8-USB switching and standby functions. Standard 1/4-inch TRS contact-closure footswitches or MIDI controllers with switch outputs can also be used to select between the main and backup computers.

21

ALARM:

A 1/4-inch TRS connector activates an external beacon (e.g., warning light) via an internal relay when a signal loss is detected on Computer A's auto-switch input. This output can also be daisy-chained to link multiple SW8-USB units for multi-zone output.
